- Affirmation
- n 1 : the act of affirming b : something affirmed : a positive assertion 2 : a solemn declaration made under the penalties of perjury by a person who conscientiously declines taking an oath from Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary
Do I Have to Believe This?
No, you don't have to believe the affirmation for it to work. But after hundreds repeats it will work.
What kind of statements should you use? What do you want to change?
In Our Heads
We all have a tape (or a video) running in our heads. This is helpful most of the time.
The problem starts with the way we see things - "camera angles". One camera angle will make tying shoes easier - another (say from the "sole" angle) impossible. Affirmations change our camera angles!
That's the wonderful thing about affirmations.
The more you work on them, the more changes happen. Self acceptance and love. Better relationships. More self-confidence. Freedom from depression.
It all depends on you.
On A Difficult Day
- I got dressed today
- some days this is a real accomplishment! - I find beauty in my world look out your window
- even if your window faces a brick wall there will be beautiful patterns of light - I am good enough
On Good A Day:
- I am doing the best I can with the tools that I have
- I look good today
- I love others and others love me
- My path is clear before me
- I hold
It means standing against difficult situations, to keep what I have and who I am. Not to let go of standards (this is one of my favorites and the motto of a noble English house - though I don't remember which).
