What's Happening?

A Woman's Comfort 2007

Dec 7, '07

There are major changes in the site now. Lots of things are gone for now.

One of the biggest is that except for Books most of the Amazon.com Recommendations are gone.

My life seems to be finally getting back on line and my ability to focus is better. And we are starting to be able to find things in this house.

This just goes along with my idea that the house we live in is so much of a reflection of the house we have in our minds.

In the last couple of months I've really gotten a lot of insight into why small children want to hear the same story over and over.

In the last couple of months I've really gotten a lot of insight into why small children want to hear the same story over and over.

They know what's going to happen – and wonder of wonders – it does!

We moved just before the beginning of September and I finally am starting to feel that my mind is starting to work again.

For the last three months, since before the move, I haven't been able to read or look at anything new.

It sounds silly, but sometimes just the idea of getting out of the house seems – well, not frightening of course, but well, strange. Anyhow, there is still so much to take care of – why go out.

When the world seems out of control, or different, or too full of surprises, as it much to small children, that sameness can give enormous comfort.

Sometimes its great to open a book and know that someone starts out doing something really really stupid, totally fouls up – and sit back and watch.

And the enjoyment comes from watching the process, not the story. But that's just fine too.

You probably are seeing much in the site but there is a lot of work going on background. Two more pages are being planned, one on the books I love and would like to share with you, and another with information about what you should know about your computer and how to Beware! falling into common, and not so common, traps on the internet.

On checking the site against W3C standards it turns out that a lot of the code needs a lot of fixing. ( Big Sigh ), so while you won't see much, the site should work more smoothly when it's done.

If you don't know, W3C is a project that stopped the "Browser Wars" between Microsoft and Netscape. Their idea is that every site should work the same no matter what browser you use or what computer you run it on ( there are huge differences between Windows and Macs ). And they do all that work without asking to get paid. These are Great People!

It has really been too long a break, but finally I am back. The latest excuse is Teeth! Thankfully I have found a woman dentist who is understanding and gentle.

I hope to be redoing pages everyday this week and really getting back into my work here. So far the site hasn't really made any money, and is definitely not yet paying for it's self but people are coming in so hopefully it is helping someone out there. And that is what the site is about.

How do I "make money"? If you buy from any of the links here, I get credit for a couple of pennies. If you find something of interest in any of the Google Ads and click on them I get credit for a couple of pennies. So far I have made a credit of $17.65 - which won't be sent until it reaches $100. I pay about $10 a month to keep up the site and $10 a year for the domain name. I'm not getting rich - but I am learning. I believe in the Web as a place where women can earn without leaving the home and their families. Eventually what I have learned will be posted on it's own page so you can benefit from my experience.

It all takes time. It all takes patience. I believe it's worth it.

- Two weeks after my sons wedding, on July 5th I had terrible pains in my stomach and down my leg. It turned out to be an ovarian cyst. A week later the doctors finally operated. It was not a fun time.

Recuperation has been very slow. My strength is finally coming back, but it is taking time. There is so much to do here on the site, so many ideas I wish to share with you, hopefully things will go smoother now and new things will be up. I want to share with you the books I am reading and some of the insights they have given me.

My Blood Pressure hit 180/85. Straight reaction to the non-stop action surrounding the Wedding. I'm one of those people who do great in emergencies - and then pass out. Getting this page up will probably be it for this week.

My Darling Son got Married!
This is the one who helped me design this site. It was a wonderful event. Now I have to work on getting back to "normal".

The problem is . . . "normal" keeps changing!

Probably the biggest semi recent event is that I turned 60 not long ago and am teaching myself how to run this site. That means learning HTML, Web Design and Web Mastering. I find it is possible to learn from books, and if taken step by slow step, it is doable.

Because I am doing this alone, the pages don't get updated as often as I would like. What I have decided to do is to let you in on some of the reasons Why!. What follows will probably be a list of excuses with dates added.
