Goda \ go’-duh\
This page is found at http://www.awomanscomfort.com/goda.html
For Anyone who doesn't Exercise with apologies to anyone who does Yoga.
If you have never managed a Lotus position – or you have but it was more years ago than you will admit to anyone under 25, this is for You.
If you can touch your Knees - but don’t talk about toes, this is for You.
If Floor Exercises are for other people – this is for You.
If you can do all those things, Congratulations! You might Enjoy this anyhow.
Goda is about Enjoying
Goda is stretching done with a lot of attention to how you breathe.
Breathe in through your nose – and breathe out through your mouth. Take Long deep breaths. Rest between the Ins and Outs.
Goda can, and should, be done while you get dressed and undressed.
The Sock or Stockings
- Stand near a wall – so you won't fall over. Hold a Sock in both hands.
- Stretch down towards your feet as far as is comfortable.
- Lean against the wall. Lift up one foot, if necessary place Foot on Knee.
- Place Foot in the Sock.
After three months it is sometimes possible to get down to the Ankles.
The Toothbrush
- Hold the Toothbrush in one hand and apply Toothpaste.
- Take One Step back away from the sink.
- Lean Forward, paying attention to the Small of Your Back.
- Stick out Tongue at the Critic in the Mirror!
The Hairbrush
- Lean Forward as you brush your hair back to front 25 strokes.
- Lean to the Right as you brush 25 strokes.
- Lean Left 25 strokes.
- Lean Back 25 stokes more.
In Grandmother's Day
Twenty-five strokes in each direction with the hairbrush resulted in a Glorious Mane. Stretches in all directions might get you something like Grandmother's Waist too.
P. S. Grandmother probably had an 18-inch waist - but Twiggy blew that
P.S.S. If you don't know who Twiggy was ask Mom - and it was probably your Great-Grandmother. Take a look at some of the dresses in very old period movies like:
No one has a waist like that today!
Have Fun Today!
Tomorrow hasn't arrived.
