(1900 – 1993) often called "First Lady of the American Theater".

She was on the stage at the age of 5, and her last at the age of 85.

She shares the honor of receiving all four entertainment prizes, the Oscar, the Tony, The Emmy and the Grammy with only two other women, Audrey Hepburn and Rita Moreno.

After her daughter died of Polio she also established the Mary MacArthur Fund. and helped with the March of Dimes as well as being so influential about helping the disabled and dying children who suffered from the results of Polio. The Helen Hayes MacArthur Hospital was named after her.
