Living in the Moment

This page is found at http://www.awomanscomfort.com/moment.html

What do you do when you just can’t take it anymore. When you have more to do than humanly possible. When things get to be too much. When things happen that you really really don’t want to accept.

"Take it and Bear it"
"Just accept it"
"Keep a stiff upper lip"

You’ve probably heard them all ( and a bunch others ) – too many times. So what do You do? Me? I Live in the Moment.

The Serenity Prayer

We all know the Serenity Prayer (roughly)

“Grant me the Strength to Change
      what can be changed.
The Courage to Accept
       what can’t.
And the Wisdom to Know
      the Difference.”

Sometimes it helps – and sometimes it just doesn’t.

“This too shall Pass.”

Sometimes it helps – and sometimes it really doesn’t.

My Stories

My son “Mr. Action Man”, got drafted. He didn’t tell me until the last minute. Oh, no. Then he went out for a Special Unit. And he didn’t tell me that either - as if I didn’t know. All that time I Lived in the Moment.

My Mother was diagnosed with a growth and passed away six days after a “successful” operation. I couldn’t believe she was gone – and I couldn’t believe the pain of missing her. For a long time afterwards I Lived in the Moment.

Living in the Moment means:

  • Not looking forward – or back.
  • Not fighting the pain - or the fear.
  • Taking each step in life as it comes - one at a time – no more.
  • Seeing the good that happens as well as the difficult
  • Not trying to change anything – especially You.

Broken Bones

If someone has a broken bone, the first thing to do is to stabilize it so it can heal.

Why should it be different with feelings? People with broken legs get married, have birthdays, even babies. Happened to one of my neighbors. She gave birth, a normal birth mind you, two weeks after a fall with a cast on her leg.

These things don’t take away the pain, but the pain doesn’t have to take away from the joy either.

And Joy can happen – IF you Live in the Moment,

What to do When it Happens

So If : You just can’t take it anymore. You have more to do than humanly possible. You feel life is way out of hand. Things happen that you really really don’t want to accept. Live in the Moment!

It Works!
